The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is responsible, by powers and functions bestowed on it, for ensuring that police officers are accountable to members of the public, while performing their duties across Kenya.

Ensuring that police strive for professionalism and discipline while promoting transparency, is also core for IPOA operations on a day to day basis.

This is an enormous undertaking especially because the Authority must be independent in conducting investigations, carrying out inspections, complaints handling, among other tasks.
