The new Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) board has reported to work, ready to serve Kenyans by steering the Authority towards the delivery of its mandate and give effect to Article 244 of the Constitution.
The Board, led by Chairperson, Mr Issack Hassan was sworn in on December 9, 2024, marking the beginning of their 6-year term as provided for by the IPOA Act.

This is the third board since IPOA’s inception in 2011. IPOA was created to ensure that members of the National Police Service(NPS) uphold professionalism and discipline; to encourage and practice transparency and accountability; and ensure independent oversight of the Service’s complaint handling procedures.
The board’s first assignment was to elect a Vice Chairperson, and they settled on Ms. Anne Wanjiku Mwangi. The other members include; Dr. Annette Mbogo, Mr. Boniface Samati, Dr. Micah Nyakego, Ms. Jackline Mwenesi Lukalo, Hon. John Muchiri Nyagah and Mr. Kenwilliams Nyakomittah.
The Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, Ms. Roseline Doreen Adhiambo Odhiambo – Odede also sits in the IPOA Board as an ex-officio member.
The board has since their reporting, undergone induction, held a meeting with the senior management, and held a meeting with all the staff of the Authority, during which, they vowed to offer their full support to the authority and strengthen institutional leadership.
